Really disappointing that Ina May Gaskin wrote the forward to this book... I wonder if she even read it. Definitely not my favorite book. In summary, the author grooms compliance and encourages women to submit to hospital protocol and recommendations in order to have a good experience. She isn't exactly wrong in that it is quite difficult, nearly impossible, to have a physiologic birth in a medical setting, but I don't believe women should be told to be quiet and not utilize their human rights knowledge. We will NEVER see change in the medical system if birthing women and families don't DEMAND it.
